WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You need to bring

  • 2 passport sized photographs
  • Proof of address – we only accept a bank statement, utility bill, tenancy bill
  • Some form of identification i.e. passport, driving license, European ID cards

(We do not accept student ID or bank cards)

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
Come dressed comfortably to approach the public. Most importantly you must be wearing a smile (on your face)!

HOW MUCH WILL I GET PAID?
It depends on how big your smile is… you may laugh, but this is VERY TRUE. The happier and more spirit you have, the more successful you will be!

Payment is based on performance. It isn’t strictly commission as there is an increasing wage as you collect more. Most of our good fundraisers are earning for themselves between £30 and £70 per day. And you get that in cash at the end of each day – which is pretty good!!

"I’m really glad I started collecting for L4L – it’s been really positive and fun. You do need to be a bit brave to approach people in the street, but it helps to know what a great cause it is. I think if your really passionate about what you are doing people see it and are more generous. A huge smile also helps a lot – I usually have aching cheeks by the end of the day. As well as knowing I am doing good work I love the freedom to collect when and where I want. It’s a great excuse to wonder round bits of the city where I haven’t been before. I started off thinking of it like a job… but it’s really not. I make money but it never really feels like work"
Rose, 23 years old, New Zealand

"I started working for Life’s 4 Living the day after I found the ad on Gumtree. It was easy to find the office using the website map. Training began with a cup of tea at 9:30am and we went through all the ins and outs of collecting. It was good to be able to get advice and support from other successful collectors.

On my first day I went to one of the local markets and made nearly 200 pounds! I had a great time talking to people, letting them know about the work of the charity, and also enjoying the good food and atmosphere of the market. I really like the work that Life’s 4 Living does and I found the public did too. Most people were really curious and supportive of our work. I found that with a smile on my face people were great, whether they donated or not.

I would recommend collecting with Life’s 4 Living to anyone who enjoys contact with the public and has an enthusiastic nature. Having a love of kids and a strong interest in natural therapies, Life’s 4 Living is a charity that totally works for me. I really like the fact that they have low admin costs and a high percentage of funds gets straight to the kids."
Josh. 28 years old. Australia
